LUT will establish a renewable energy-focused professorship in electrical engineering, the first of its kind in Finland, as the demand for electrical engineering skills increases with the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy. Wind and solar power technology is becoming increasingly common in industry and buildings, creating a high demand for expertise in the field. The use of renewable energy in transportation, heating, and industry replaces fossil fuels, resulting in economic and environmental benefits. The professorship will be established with donations from 30 donors and Laitex is one of them.
The professorship and its research groups will enable education in a future-oriented field that will strengthen the economy and offer employment opportunities for skilled professionals.
