Ust-Ilimsk overview
Two bark boilers (BB4 & BB5) in Ust-Ilimsk were modernized with new fuel feeding, ash handling and sand re-circulation systems to enhance green energy production.
The fuel feeding, ash handling and sand re-circulation equipment were delivered to the plant as part of a larger scope of complete modernization of existing two bark boilers, which produce 68MWth each. Our underlying task was to enable efficient and reliable fuel feeding to the boiler, extract and cool down the ash coming from the furnace, separate and recirculate the fine sand back to the furnace. The cramped space of the old plant made the project more challenging.

New bark boilers
From time to time, material handling equipment must be replaced with new ones. The lifecycle of the Ust-Ilimsk power plant came to its end and the end client decided to make a significant investment in modernizing the existing bark boilers BB4 and BB5.
Tailored solutions
The plant had limited space for the new equipment and therefore the solution had to be customized precisely for the plant. The combination of Laitex’s expertise and flexible attitude was key to meeting these challenges. Laitex delivered a solution that was tailored to a demanding project.
