Ilomantsi Overview
The activated carbon plant in Ilomantsi, originally commissioned in 2021, produces 5,000 tonnes of activated carbon annually. As part of our commitment to supporting Neova’s strategically significant project in meeting the growing international demand for activated carbon, Laitex conducted comprehensive maintenance services in the spring 2024.

Maintenance Services
Cooling Screw Conveyor Inspection and Repair:
During the shutdown, the cooling screw conveyor was inspected, revealing that the conveyor screw was bent. The screw was promptly removed and transported to the Laitex workshop, where it was straightened. Once repaired, the screw was delivered back to Ilomantsi. Concurrently, the jacket of the cooling screw conveyor underwent meticulous internal inspection, assessing the material strength. It was discovered that the bent conveyor screw had damaged the casing, significantly reducing its wall strength. Failure to repair it would have posed a risk to the plant’s reliability. Laitex’s welder repaired the casing on-site by welding the worn area. After confirming the device’s reliability, the conveyor screw was reinstalled.
Elevator Drive Wheels Upgrade:
To enhance operational efficiency, Laitex replaced the elevator drive wheels with a new design. This upgrade simplifies equipment maintenance during operation, thereby minimizing the duration of maintenance shutdowns between annual periods.
Also during the maintenance, other conveyor devices were inspected and the necessary annual maintenance measures were performed.
