Every success story begins with movement and the courage to keep going.
Laitex has started a partnership with runner Alisa Vainio.
Success, whether in sports or business, requires the same things: determination, continuous improvement, and the bravery to aim high. What brings us together is determination, the courage to pursue our dreams, and above all, the drive to keep the flow alive, no matter what challenges we face.
Laitex is proud to support Alisa on her journey towards new dreams.

Reliable bulk material handling is key to the performance of boilers and power plants. When fuel feeding or ash extraction fails, problems arise fast. You get unstable combustion, forced shutdowns, and high maintenance costs. By understanding the bulk handling challenges, engineers can design more reliable systems.
Why reliability matters?
Boiler feed and ash handling systems work in tough material handling environments.
High temperatures put stress on conveyors, hoppers, and valves.
Abrasive ash and fuel particles cause accelerated wear.
Moisture and condensation create sticking, corrosion, or blockages.
Variable bulk properties (size, density, moisture) make flow unpredictable.
In bulk handling, equipment must handle constant stress, changing materials, and chemical exposure. It should do this without losing flow consistency.
Blockages and bridging Fine ash or damp fuel can compact, stopping flow in silos, feeders, or chutes.
Air leakage Poor sealing at feeders and valves can disturb pressure balances in pneumatic systems.
Wear and erosion Continuous contact with hot, abrasive ash damages conveyors, screws, and rotary valves.
Thermal expansion Materials expand and contract, stressing seals and joints.
These issues stress that bulk handling for boilers goes beyond just moving material. It’s crucial for controlling how that material acts under extreme conditions.
Design Strategies for Reliable Operation
Bulk material handling technology offers proven solutions:
Robust feeding systems that ensure stable material flow into boilers despite bulk variability.
Dry ash handling cuts water use, reduces corrosion, and boosts ash utilization downstream.
Sealed transfer points such as double dump valves or rotary feeders to prevent gas and dust leakage.
Wear protection through hardfacing, ceramic linings, or modular replaceable parts.
Monitoring and maintenance routines that detect wear or blockages before they become failures.
Moving Forward
Reliable ash and boiler feed handling comes from using the right bulk material principles and custom system design. Focusing on flow behavior, sealing, wear resistance, and maintenance helps operators keep performance and availability high over time.
At Laitex, we share this knowledge because we believe that strong material handling principles are the foundation of reliable energy production. The reliability of ash boiler feed systems in bulk material handling is a critical factor in achieving efficient and sustainable industrial operations. By focusing on system reliability, businesses can enhance boiler performance, reduce operational costs, and contribute to a more sustainable future.
At Laitex, we know that moving fine bulk materials like fly ash, cement, or limestone isn’t always easy. Traditional mechanical methods can be messy, unreliable, and maintenance-heavy.
Our latest Let Me Explain video stars Teemu Lampila, Head of Pneumatic ConveyingBusiness Line. He introduces one of our most flexible solutions: Laitex Pneumatic Conveyors.

Why Pneumatic Conveyors?
Our systems move dry bulk materials through pipelines with controlled airflow. We use either lean-phase or dense-phase methods. This ensures transport is reliable, safe, and dust-free.
Their fully enclosed design reduces spillage and dust emissions. They also stay efficient in tough environments.
Key Benefits
Dust-tight and safe – Clean operation with minimal emissions
Flexible routing – Handles long distances, bends, and vertical runs
Reliable ash & boiler feed – Consistent performance in power and heat plants
Low maintenance, long service life – Reduced downtime and operating costs
Wide material compatibility – From sand and limestone to fly ash, cement, sulfur, activated carbon, and more
With Laitex, you get a complete system. We design, supply, and integrate a range of systems. This includes conveyors, feeders, and dust control solutions. Our goal is to ensure smooth, clean, and reliable handling of bulk materials.

Laitex Oy, a Finnish family-owned company and global expert in sustainable bulk material handling, has secured a strategically significant order to supply the biomass treatment and handling systems for a new biomass-fired Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant in Torrelavega, Spain*. The plant is developed by ENSO, with EAG (Empresarios Agrupados – GHESA) as the EPC contractor, and will provide renewable energy to Solvay’s chemical complex.
This order is a key delivery for Laitex in the energy sector. It boosts Laitex’s presence in Southern Europe and shows the company’s importance to large-scale EPC contractors. This delivery highlights Laitex’s skill in combining turnkey project expertise, custom solutions, and life-cycle support in a major green transition project in Europe.
“This biomass project marks a milestone for Laitex in the Iberian market. It shows our capability to deliver complex, large systems. These systems support global decarbonization goals. They also ensure a steady fuel flow for tough industrial processes.”, says Lasse Kurronen, CEO, Laitex Oy
Laitex will deliver the complete biomass treatment and handling system, ensuring safe, reliable, and continuous fuel supply to the boiler. The scope includes:
Biomass receiving system: Biomass receiving system for six trucks
Screening system: Ensuring fuel quality by removing oversize and fine particles, as well as metals
Biomass storage: Two (2) 6000m3 biomass silos with screw reclaimers

This full-scope delivery strengthens Laitex’s wide expertise in handling diverse fuel types and ensuring the seamless flow of material in demanding energy industry applications.
“This project is a significant achievement for Laitex. Our material handling systems will ensure reliable and efficient fuel supply to the biomass boiler, supporting our customer’s transition to cleaner energy.”, outlines Laitex’s Head of Project Sales, Sami Koskela
Flow Must Go On!
*About the Project:
The CHP plant’s grate boiler will operate with a capacity of 360,000 tonnes of biomass per year, sourced sustainably from forestry residues and woody byproducts. By replacing fossil fuels with renewable energy, the project will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 400,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually.
In early 2023, we decided to set the bar higher. Late that same year, we had our environmental system ISO 14001 certified. With the new guidelines and obligations, we have been working hard to mitigate our environmental impact in the year 2024 and years to come. As supported by our strategy, we are ever more leaning towards projects involving renewable energy and the circular economy. We have strengthened our service department to ensure longer life spans for our products installed all around the world. In the beginning of 2024, we changed the source of electricity to carbon-neutral and set a goal to grow the recycling rate by starting to recycle plastics at the workshops. We consider the source of fresh water highly valuable. Therefore, it was only natural to find ways to cut water consumption at the shops by changing old sanitary equipment to less wasteful models. Our first emission inventory was made in 2024 for the previous year 2023. In late 2024, we wanted to take the next step and show more environmental leadership. We joined the Science Based Targets initiative and have set the target of cutting GHG scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% by the year 2030. The year 2023 is our base year. The said commitment will keep challenging us for the following years, however, for us, it is not a burden, but a necessity.
