Overview
Laitex modernized Södra Cell’s pulp and paper mill’s bottom ash cooling chain conveyor as a turnkey solution. The original conveyor that Laitex supplied served the mill for more than 20 years. Now, the conveyor was modernized to meet today’s safety and capacity requirement.

Service Project Overview
Laitex provided a comprehensive solution to upgrade the bottom ash cooling chain conveyor at Södra Cell’s pulp and paper mill. The initial conveyor they had supplied had been in use at the mill for over two decades. However, it was essential to update the conveyor to align with contemporary safety and capacity standards. Situated in Mönsterås, Sweden, Södra Cell’s mill boasts an impressive annual production capacity of 750,000 tons of softwood and hardwood pulp. While the primary focus of the mill remains pulp production, it also plays a significant role in generating green electricity and producing bio methanol.
Effective implementation
The project was implemented during a five-day annual maintenance outage, where the old conveyor was replaced with the new one. Laitex was responsible for dismantling and removing the old conveyor and installing and commissioning the new one. The installations were carried out efficiently in one shift and the whole project was completed in three days instead of five.

This project emphasized the co-operation between Laitex’s excellent service and project departments. The collaboration between these departments is kept close to ensure a seamless start of the project and the flow of information.
